She was the woman who Leonardo DiCaprio paid tribute to in his moving BAFTA speech. And the actor’s mum Irmelin told how he will always be a “mummy’s boy”.
Speaking at the EE BAFTA after party at London’s Grovesnor House, she tells us: “Everyone’s always saying he’s a mummy’s boy and I say: ‘Do you mind when everyone says that?’ And he says: ‘No, I love it’. He’ll always be a mummy’s boy. I’m so proud of him.”
Leonardo, 41, picked up a gong for his leading role in the Revenant at the prestigious bash on Sunday night.
And the emotional star paid tribute to his mum when he collected the award.
He said: “I want to thank one more person, I didn’t grow up in a life of privilege.
“I grew up in a tough neighbourhood in east Los Angeles and this woman drove me three hours every day to a different school to make sure I had a different opportunity.

“To my mother, it’s her birthday today, this is for you.”
We partied with Irmelin and Leo into the wee hours at film director Harvey Weinstein’s glitzy bash at the Rosewood Hotel.
Leo is currently Hollywood’s most eligible bachelor, but it is his mum who he regularly takes to bashes.
But when she finally hit the hay Leo made a beeline for single TV presenter Laura Whitmore, 30.
