Playboy Mansion Goes On Sale For $200m
Hugh Hefner's property has been the setting for his famous lavish parties and includes a zoo licence among its attractions.
As well as a tennis court and swimming pool, the mansion also comes with a zoo licence, according to Playboy Enterprises.
In a statement, the company added: "The Playboy Mansion has been a creative centre for Hef as his residence and workplace for the past 40 years, as it will continue to be if the property is sold."
As part of the sale, 89-year-old Hefner must be allowed to continue living there, according to company spokesman John Vlautin.
Playboy chief executive Scott Flanders said the sale of the property - which was built in 1927 and bought by Playboy for a reported $1.1m in 1971 - would help the company "reinvest in the transformation of our business".
At that time, the purchase was the largest real estate transaction in Los Angeles history.
Playboy has seen circulation of its magazine plummet and is in the midst of a reinvention.
In October, it announced that it would stop running photos of completely naked women in its US print edition. That move followed a decision in August 2014 to ban full nudity on its website. by skynews.com
